Masterbation....the WTBS figures if you are doing everything else as you should be as a young person....this one will trip you up, and will allow them to use their guilt triggers. Bastards.
In fact....I think I'm going to go masturbate right now thinking about "splooging" on the Governing Body. (Note to self....don't mentally picture said GB)

Self Abuse
by startingover insomething occurred to me while i was reading the promiscuous sex thread.
the wt always refers to masturbation as self abuse.
i googled it and came up with many sites that linked it to cutting oneself, but only a couple that linked those words to masturbation, one being a site about sda prophetess ellen white, and the other some religious site.. of course if you type in self pleasure then you get the masturbation links.

What has "Unintelligent Design" been observed to make?
by hooberus inmillions of complex objects (cameras, adjustable wrenches, etc.
) have been seen to come into existence under the direction/workmanship of intelligent designers.
however, despite the often even greater complexity of biologiocal systems* we are often told that only unintelligent processes can be considered as "scientific explanations" for the origin of these structures.

Watchtower website article on the History of the Tortilla
by IronGland in"please pass the tortillas".
while the writer obviously enjoys tortillas i wonder if it saddens him that the culture that created the tasty tortilla will soon be slaughtered at har-mageddon?

OOps think i opened the floodgates (and I dont mean heaven)
by PoppyR inso... last night i had the dreaded conversation with my mother.
she phoned and asked if she could 'help' me with the truth.
i just could not pretend any more i was missing meetings cos i was depressed or any other reason, i just told her i was having doubts about the whole thing and did not see the point in leading a double life and 'limping along'.

I remember once when an elder told me "if I was worldly I'd be smoking, cussing, and fornicating every night". I looked at him in stunned disbelief. He was completely serious.
It's that persecution complex. They think that by being persecuted now it will pay off somehow.
Bizarre whack nuts.

I assume as soon as you hung up the phone from your mother you ran out and "worked your street corner"?
Being a JW standing on a street corner touting magazines from the Borg affliated with the great Harlot Babylon the Great / UN is so much different than standing on a street corner looking for a "good time".
LOL

Do you know of any "born-again christians" that became JW's?
by booker-t ini was just wondering how many born-agains become jw's especially the ones that know all about the wt history of false prophecies, scandals, etc; and what do they say now if they might have told you about the errors of the wt.
do they suddenly get amnesia?
i remember when i was in high school in the 1980's there was a girl that used to try and convert me to born-againism.
-
Enigma One
No...but I know a fair amount of Ex-JW's that became Born Agains. They went from one bowl of dog vomit to another. They obviously couldn't live their life without a lot of hypocrisy, self-loathing, and judgemental attitutes.

So why do I feel like a hypocrite??
by Super_Becka inok, so i've been doing a lot of thinking about my relationship with my jw boyfriend, and while i haven't made any final decisions regarding what i'm going to do just yet, i can't help but feel like a hypocrite, and i feel terrible about it.. jws are so intolerant, they can't accept others who are different than they are, they try to force their beliefs and rules on others, they judge others based on wts standards and such, so how does it make me any different to judge him on his beliefs??
i never judge people based on their belief systems or lifestyles unless it hurts someone else - i grew up being taught that everyone is different, that doesn't make them bad and that we shouldn't judge others because they're different, my mother's favourite saying is "to each his own" and i follow that myself - so why am i considering breaking up with my boyfriend because his beliefs are different from mine??
i'm trying to decide whether or not to break up with him - it's not an easy decision, he's a great person and he treats me very well - but i can't help but feel like i'm no better than an intolerant jw, judging him based on his religion.
-

I guess I don't see how you are judging him as such. You are determining if you are a match. If you can live with him and have children with him....yes I know, not today...but someday.
Why is his stubborness any different from any other trait that might turn you off. We "judge" people everyday based on looks, smile, intelligence, etc. There are some things in life that just ARE NOT meant to be. You might have the right man at the wrong time. Or you could just have the wrong man. Doesn't matter. The end result is the same.
Think of it this way. Right now, could be the best the relationship gets. You seem to think that it will get better. And while it may...it might also get worse. As it is....this could be the best it gets. Is that enough? You mistakenly think that if you make some movement on your own beliefs on Xmas and such he will make some movement as well. This is complete folly. He won't budge if he's a good JW. Won't happen. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not next year. Let me say this one last time....are you listening? HE'S IN A HIGH CONTROL CULT! Get it? If he is a good JW, YOU WILL NEVER COME FIRST. You will ALWAYS come AFTER the religion.
So if you want to live your life where you are not as important as his religion....knock yourself out. If you want more than that. YOU WILL NOT find it with this man.

Anybody here who still has faith in God and belief in the Bible?
by Sheepish inthere seems to be a lot of folks here who are bitter and want nothing to do with organized religion (understandable!
) or the belief in a god who cares about us, and has a "plan".or even anyone who has actually read and studied the bible, and understands what's going on it it.
so many just take stuff out of context looking for "mistakes" and loopholes.

Sheep....what would you consider "moral absolutes"?
